Cook Christmas: Here are pictures from Christmas with Marmie and Papa Mark Cook. They came to see us last weekend. They also took our mommy and daddy out for thier 6th anniversary dinner!

Nanny Jessika

Jess and her husband Doyle go to Atlas with us. When we were faced with the dilemma of having us both at school at the same time next semester we asked Jess to be our "nanny"... and the boys love her. She is so amazing at thinking up new games and playing with them on Monday and Wednesday mornings. It is great for me (the mom) to not worry about my kids or feel guilty about leaving them (okay, not as guilty).

Jess got us some cool Christmas gifts:
A doodle pad and crayons for Augie, a rattle-bear for Becket! I am happy to report that the doodle pad is almost completely doodled up! Yea Jess!

Christmasie memories!

cards from friends and family and a great gingerbread house (that we started to eat) from our buddies Sam and Jacob!

An update from the only girl in the house:

Speech therapy is going great! Jody is a super star and we feel so good about the process. We have been hearing new word/sounds and we feel that we are communicating better all around with Augie. He seems less frustrated too- which is great. Friends and family even comment on his better “more mature and controlled” behavior. It is wonderful to see him progressing and growing up!

Becket rolled over yesterday! He is also finding his lungs- which is awesome and unawesome at the same time. He loves to shreak and squeak with delight and displeasure. He is developing quite a personality. He will certainly be our chatter box.

Aug ate with chopsticks and gives out kisses on command now. Okay, chopsticks got poked into dumplings and “kisses” are leaning forward with his tongue out a little bit... but this is one of the events that mommies NEED- and I feel like I have been waiting for more affectionate things like this for ever. Of course our camera is always out of batteries... I hope to fix this soon. I would love for pics to go with these new found skills. Murphy's law.

So I am feeling much better. I don't want to jinx it, but I feel a lot more competent as a parent every day. I don't know that I am doing anything better in particular- but I am feeling more comfortable... and honestly just more mellow. I don't freak out (right away) about screaming in the grocery store or both babies exploding at once. I feel like we have the 2 kid thing pretty much figured out (knock on wood!). I guess I should know that God wouldn't let us struggle through the babyhood for ever. We have to save up some strength for teenagers.
